The Morgue Assistant - Halloween Party Game
Great News there is a Job Opening in Haunted Hill!
Bad News is that it’s at the Haunted Hill Morgue!
For this Halloween game, players must put on Morgue gloves (disposable vinyl gloves) to find all the body parts in the fastest time in order to become the Haunted Hill Morgue Assistant. More game details and where to find body parts below.
Getting Started
For this Halloween game you’ll need items that represent body parts and corresponding pasta that is similar to the body parts. The body parts and pasta/food items will go in the same bowl. You end up with one bowl per body part.
Body Parts
- Fingers
Fake cut off fingers – Solid fingers in 5 or 10 packs (Link to Severed Fingers)
Cooked Penne pasta
- Eyes
Squishy Eyeballs – You’ll need 2 for a set of eyes but we recommend you get extra just in case one gets lost.
Medium pasta shells, olives and/or peeled grapes
- Ears
Fake Ears – best is a latex or flexible ears
Use large shells and you can also take cooked lasagna and use a pumpkin or round cookie cutter to make ear like shapes
- Gross Tongues
Fake rubber tongues
Again large shell pasta, lasagna cut in a tongue shape
Bowls / Containers
You’ll want bowls or containers that are wide enough for your guest to put both hands or at least one hand in and deep enough to where they can’t see the Fingers, Eyes, Ears, etc… from above so at least 4 – 6 inches deep.
Preparing the Pasta
This game involves quite a bit of pasta and you’ll need to prepare enough time to make it all. The amount of pasta will depend on the size of the bowls, but in most cases you’ll want at least 1 lb. of each pasta and to be safe maybe more.
Cooking Oil
The cooking oil or olive oil is used to make sure the pasta does not stick together, makes it feel gross and makes it harder to find the body parts.
Halloween Party Set Up
- Cook each pasta separately, drain and let cool to where you can safely touch it.
- Now place the pasta in a bowl and drizzle a tablespoon of oil over the pasta and mix gently. (hands work best)
- Not you can store in the fridge until 15 - 20 minutes before it’s time to play
- Just before you play pull out the bowl and mix the pasta up a little, if it is sticking add a little more oil and mix in the body parts that go with the pasta. You'll want a nice mix.
- For Effect cover each bowl with a cloth so the guests can’t see what is in the bowls and move them to a table so you can play.
Playing The Morgue Assistant
Gather your guests around and share the story that in Haunted Hill times are tough and finding a job is even tougher, but there is one job opening where people are dieing to get in and that's the Haunted Hill Morgue!
Good News is the Haunted Hill Morgue is looking for a Morgue Assistant since the last one got cold feet a few days ago.
The Job Description Reads:
Wanted Morgue Assistant who enjoys long hours, cool temps, can identify body parts, fast and enjoys being around dead people.
After reading that, Ask who wants to sign up as for the Morgue Assistant Interview
Tell the entire group about the details of the game.
Invite the first Job Candidate (guest) for their interview. This should be in a separate room that is dimly lit and have the bowls with body parts on a table.
Thank them for coming to the haunted Hill Morgue for the interview and let them know that the last Morgue Assistant let in such a hurry that body parts were left everywhere and worst of all Mr. Morgan is still missing a few.
In fact we are looking for 5 fingers, 2 eyes, 2 ears and a tongue (add any other body parts you have to the list). As part of this interview I am going to need you to search for the body parts in those bowls over there (point in the direction of the bowls) and see if you can find all the missing parts.
I need you to find all these body parts as fast as you can so we can finally put Mr. Morgan to rest. Please put on these safety gloves (disposable vinyl gloves), then hand them a container to place the body parts in and when I say go start your search, but please keep in mind I don't tolerate a messy workplace so if your spill anything outside of the bowls I may have to ask you to leave the interview.
Now when you say Go you or a helper (helps to have two people working the game) starts the stopwatch and the Interviewee begins searching for the body parts. We recommend that you allow up to 3 minutes for them to search for the body parts.
If they find all the body parts in less than 3 minutes record the time and the Lowest Time Wins the Job of Morgue Assistant
And if no one finds all the body parts within 3 minutes then have them start search and count how many body parts they found and the person with the most body parts found wins.
Once a guest has finished their interview thank them and have them go to another room of the house or outside so they don't tell the other guests what you must do for the interview.
Last Notes:
This is a messy Halloween game so consider a Bib to protect clothing
To make the mix look even more disgusting mix in a little fake blood
Mummy Wrap
Supplies: Toilet paper and kids
The basic concept for Mummy Wrap is simple get cheap toilet paper, have the kids divide up into teams of 2, 3 or 4, have one person be the mummy and the others must wrap the mummy with the toilet paper.
First team to use all their toilet paper to wrap the Mummy from head to toe wins.
Here are some Mummy Wrap variations to make the game more interesting and more challenging.
Blindfolded Mummy Wrap
- For teams of two, the person wrapping the Mummy is blindfolded and the first team to wrap the Mummy from head to toe wins.
- For teams of 3 and up, where there are several wrappers. The first person is blindfolded and given the roll of tiolet paper. Then the blindfolded player is given 30, 45 or 60 seconds to wrap as much as the mummy as possible. When the timer goes off they must put done the toilet paper, remove their blindfold, pass it to the next child and then that person has “x” seconds to wrap as much as possible. This continues until the toilet paper is gone and the Mummy is wrapped from head to toe.
Mummy Wrap Relay
This Mummy Wrap game involves teams of 3 or more.
The first Mummy is wrap by the other team members and once the Mummy is wrapped must walk from where they were wrapped to a stool or table 15 – 20 feet away and then pick up another roll of toilet paper and return to the wrap area.
Once they return, their team members must unwrap (not rip off!) the toilet paper without ripping it. (If they rip it add a large penalty to their time. Like 5 minutes)
Depending on how many team members there are, while the first Mummy is being unwrapped, other team member can begin on wrapping the next mummy.
If there are only three players, you must unwrap the first mummy and then start wrapping the second mummy with the new roll of toilet paper.
Once the second Mummy is wrapped they must walk to chair or table (go around it) and return where they will be unwrapped and another team member wrapped.
However this time the toilet paper used is from the first wrapping so depending on how well they re-wrapped the toilet paper this could be a difficult task.
Continue until each member of the team has gone.
To end the game the last Mummy from the team needs to get wrap, walk to the chair and return to the wrap area to complete the game. First team to do this wins.
Trick or Treat Game
Supplies: Cookie cutter, craft supplies, list of things to do
Use a cookie cutter shaped like a pumpkin and trace 12 pumpkins (or the number of guests who will be at the party) on orange construction paper, cut them out. Note it is important to try and make these the same size. Then take 11 of the pumpkins and write Trick on the back and on 1 write Treat. Adjust the ratio of Tricks to Treats if needed.
On the Trick Pumpkins write a silly thing to do or act out like:
Walk like a spider
Cackle like a witch
Flap your wings like a bat
Share your Scariest Face
Yell Boo! as loud as you can
Walk like Frankenstein and more.
Your one Treat should be a fun candy pack or a cool prize.
Now put all the pumpkins in a plastic witch kettle and have each child draw one out. If they get the treat one then let them choose a treat out of another bucket or award them a prize. If they get the trick they have to do what it says to earn the treat. Or for additional fun you can continue to make them do additional silly things until they pick out a treat.
Operation Body Parts - Gross Halloween Game
Supplies: Fake body parts, various pastas and food items, disposable vinyl gloves (optional), bowls/buckets, cooking oil, dim lighting, stopwatch/timer, cardboard, paper, markers, best played outside (not recommended to be played on carpetted area) Thee concept of the this Halloween party game is simple; teams have to search and find body parts and the first team to find them all wins. However finding the body parts won't be easy but it will be fun when you play Operation Body Parts.
Getting Started with Operation Body Parts
For this Halloween game you’ll need the following:
- Fake Body Parts - we have samples below
- Two large bowls, buckets or containers
- Items that look or feel like body parts but aren't (Pasta, peeled grapes, etc...)
- Two cardboard body outlines with spaces where body parts are missing
- 2 sets of Body Parts cards
- Timer / stopwatch
- Optional disposable vinyl gloves (use if you need to keep hands clean)
Halloween Planning for Operation Body Parts
Go to the Halloween store or shop below for various body parts – Eyes, fingers, ears, heart, tongue, etc… and then you'll also want body part decoys which you should be able to pick up at the grocery store.
- Fingers = Cooked Penne pasta, Eyes = olives and/or peeled grapes, Ears & Tongues = large shells and/or cut pieces of lasagna, Heart = consider a lemon with some if the peel shaved off to give it a weird texture. Add in other pastas that represent intestines or worms just to make it gross feeling.
Items Needed Per Team (Remember 2 Teams so get two sets of items) – Per Team you are going to want 2 eyes, at least 5 fingers (one hand), 2 ears, 1 heart, 1 tongue and any other body part. You’ll want 10 – 15 body parts.
Candy Corn Catch
Supplies: Candy corn, plastic pumpkins, string or belt
Divide guests into groups of 3 teams, 4-5 per team or if couples into pairs. Then announce that you are going to play Candy Corn Catch where team members will toss candy corns into the pumpkin that will be tied around a team member’s waist.
To make things fair give each team member the same amount of candy corn, so if some people choose to eat it rather throw it, they will have a choice. Suggest 10 per person.
Now select a team member to wear the pumpkin (these should be the ones for trick or treating so there is a hole on top) and tie the plastic pumpkin around one team member's waist. Now establish a throw line for those with the candy and place the pumpkin wearing teammate 5, 7 or 10 feet away.
Once everyone is set let the tossing begin. The kids and adults can throw candy corn all at one time or one at a time. You person wearing the pumpkin can move around to try to catch the candy corn as it is thrown. Once everyone has thrown the candy corn, take the pumpkin and count how many went in and also have the kids pick up any that is on the floor. Switch team members and go again. Add up how many go in each round and then total the amounts after everyone has had a turn. Winning team is the one to get the most candy corn in the pumpkin.
Halloween Spooky Sounds Story Game
Supplies: A loud crowd
This is a campfire type story adapted for Halloween. Everyone gets a different sound effect and when they hear their sound mentioned each time in the story, they make their noise. It is recommended that you have someone who can shut the lights off just before the "scream" at the end of the story! It makes it more dramatic.
OWLS (“who’s”)
GHOSTS (“boo’s; and chains to rattle)
EVIL SCIENTISTS (“bwa-ha-ha-ha”) (….this is such a fun sound to do!)
HAUNTED HOUSE (6 creaky sounds made with those crank noise makers that you use for New Year’s. If you turn them slowly, they sound like creaking drs) (Will also need one or two of those toy thunder/lightning gadgets. You could also use a sheet of metal hung from a string for thunder noise instead.)
KILLER CLOWNS (beep horns w/the squeeze bulbs on the ends)
RATTLESNAKES (bags of cheap maracas are available at party supply stores)
Librarian (narrator: says “Shhh!”; and everyone clap for “loud crash”)
Halloween Story
It was a dark and foggy evening in _____Denton_____(fill in town). In the cool night air, the aroma of formaldehyde being made in nearby ______Krum____(fill in town) was very strong. The only sounds to be heard were the OWLS in the distance, the HAUNTED HOUSE on the corner with its creaking doors and thunder and lightning which always seem to surround the house.
Occasionally the KILLER CLOWN car would pass down the street, often being chased by the GHOSTS’ truck making a racket with all of their boo-ing and rattling of their chains. Within the town library, someone turned a page too loudly and the LIBRARIAN said, “SSSh!”. Meanwhile down on the street corner could be seen the notorious gang of EVIL SCIENTISTS. You never quite know what they’re gonna be up to next.
Suddenly, from every sewer drain in the town could be heard the sea of resident RATTLESNAKES! They all slithered into the street and up the steps of the library. Each RATTLESNAKE took a book and slithered over to one of the tables. One of the RATTLESNAKES remarked, “If you ask me, that boa the LIBRARIAN is wearing looks really constricting!” Guess what the LIBRARIAN said? That’s right — “SSSh!”.
Outside, the OWLS could be heard more strongly. The KILLER CLOWN car approached the intersection, followed by the GHOSTS. As they approached the intersection, the KILLER CLOWN driving the car signaled a right turn. Oddly enough, his car made a left turn. The truck behind them slammed on its brakes and there was a LOUD CRASH! Down went the tail gate of the truck and out tumbled the GHOSTS. The EVIL SCIENTISTS came running over from the corner to see what had happened.
Just then, the storm from the HAUNTED HOUSE expanded over the whole town. The RATTLESNAKES convinced the librarian that the best place for everyone to gather was in the library. So, all of the OWLS flew into the library. They didn’t know what to read, so they just winged it.
The EVIL SCIENTISTS headed for the physics section and began arguing over where they were going to get the 3.14 pumpkins needed to make their specialty pumpkin pi. The librarian then ushered to…….. “Send in the CLOWNS”. The GHOSTS followed shortly thereafter being absolutely thrilled with any book in the library because all books include the word "Books".
The LIBRARIAN was hopelessly saying over and over again “SSSh, SSSh!”. And for a while at least ALL OF THE SOUNDS WERE GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME!.......But an hour later, everything was peaceful again in ____________(fill in town). The OWLS went back to the trees, the HAUNTED HOUSE brought its storm back home again, the EVIL SCIENTISTS went back to their corner, the GHOSTS got back in their truck, the KILLER CLOWNS eventually all made it back into their little clown car, and the RATTLESNAKES went back to their sewer drains.
And the LIBRARIAN? Well, she looked around the library at the floating feathers, the slime on the
books, the overturned tables, the broken chairs…...And then, all of the sudden, she SCREAMED! (scream!)
